‘Becoming Mother’ 82

Written by Vani Khare When we held you in our arms, Most of us had no idea of what we are going to do with you? Seriously, you may not hear it from most of us. But it’s true. After all, you were a tiny, wiggly and by far ‘the’most fragile thing, we had ever touched. We might be born with the talent and anatomy to give birth and raise babies. But motherhood is no adrenaline. It doesn’t kick at once. Your little puppy face doesn’t cut it. We still remember our labor and surgical pains. Motherhood-It flows slowly. Between confusion, doubt, pain, frustration and sleepless nights. As we watch those tiny fingers and diaper cladded bummies. Love creeps in – little by little. As we watch you sleeping, your soft snores and the way you clutch our finger in your tiny little wrist. Motherhood matures. Love blossoms. And mothers are cultivated. Slowly, with time we realize the magic we created We were once god’s canvas, colours and treasure chest to create and keep you safe. Two hearts beat in this one body. ‘Becoming mother’ is like a superhero finding his power.

Motherhood is about reclaiming the strength and love we never knew- we had. And let us assure you this, While yesterday we were unsure about raising you Today we will stand by your side like tigress. Ever watchful, ever loving and ever protecting.   Watch a candid discussion on pregnancy and motherhood at Secrets Of Womanhood this Sunday 11…
